Carl B. Bauder was born in Ohio on July 19, 1898, and served in Battery A, 135th Field Artillery Regiment, American Expeditionary Forces, during the First World War. After the war, he worked as a clerk in Toledo, Ohio. He died on August 26, 1967. His friend, 1st Lieutenant Ralph F. Henn, served at an arsenal in Washington, D. C., during the war.
